Hi Shurgard Team, this sounds good in principle however please see below email I received from my local Shurgard branch in Greenwich which was rather definitive and totally unhelpful: Hi, We understand the inconvenience the rate increase may cause, however these are set by our head office and we have no control over it at our store. Currently our building capacity is 90% full so our current prices are much higher for units around the size you currently have, we would not be able to help with a solution at this time. Hello, we are sorry to read that you feel the lighting in the building is inadequate. We've passed your concerns on to the Store Manager who will be looking into this in more detail. And we are sorry to read you did not receive all the information on pricing you needed. Our on-site managers are available during office hours to answer any questions on storage and pricing. Unlike many other storage providers, all available units and prices are shown online, including our special offers. The only extra costs new customers need to pay are a one-off administration fee and a unique sealed lock to your storage unit to guarantee no one else can access your belongings. Although all our facilities are fully insured, you still need to get an insurance to cover your stored items. Our rental prices can’t include this because the cost depends on the value of your goods. We are confident that the overall cost of your storage at Shurgard offers great value in the market and thank you for storing with us.

Hello Sophie, thanks for your input, yet you missed my point, yes - your units show prices per week and offers (thats marketing) You do not however display the important terms/conditions which everyone should see before they press PAY, to know what their are getting into. (notice period, how to give notice, payment terms, how is the rent calculated, late fees, when is it going to be charged etc.) I only receive the document after I paid. And even then, I have two figures, on confirmation email my monthly rent shows as : 352 on actual contract is set as: 293. Extra insurance is:20, so how do you come up with two unrelated numbers? And which are you gonna charge next month?? More importantly, how do I know? Its not clear. Moreover, your pricing is marketed per week, but on contract is counted as per month. Does it mean you charge me per month and then refund? How do I know? Again that is not transparency, nor clarity. Sending me to local manager is just extra hustle and time loss for me. It is probably easier to call your competitor and get all the info in one go. Feedback is for people to have the opportunity to know, what they should look out for. And its also helpful for you to know where you can improve. All the best.
