Floral apron recalling the work of Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840), known for his botanical watercolours, many of which were published as large, coloured stipple engravings. Redoute was a Belgium botanist and painter, inspired by the Dutch flower painting tradition and nicknamed 'the Raphael of flowers'. He produced delicate watercolour illustrations at Malmaison as a court artist to Marie Antoinette, and other notable patrons included Empress Joséphine and Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma. This bold peony apron recalls his love of the blooms, and is printed in cotton with a practical acrylic coating to protect against spills.
