Thought to derive from the Arabic word ‘qandi’, meaning ‘crystallised sugar’, ‘candy’ reflects the popularity of candied fruit spreading from the Middle East and Ottoman courts to Europe as luxurious rarities in the 15th and 16th centuries. Very disappointing. Nowhere near as nice as the picture. Not worth £14.99 a box. And I bought 3 boxes as Christmas presents. I'd be ashamed to give them as presents.
