Black cotton tunic finely embroidered with blooms and cranes, based on a panelled screen from the Edo period (1603-1867). Cranes have been an important motif in Japanese art and textiles for centuries. These noble birds are monogamous and form pair bonds that can last a lifetime, and they've come to symbolise longevity and peace. This design is embroidered in soft hues of cream and ochre against a black background. Our tunic is designed in a relaxed fit, pull-on style for comfort. Made exclusively for Museum Selection.
