Elegant wrapping paper reproducing intricate details from 18th and 19th century botanical studies of ferns. Britain and America experienced a 'fern mania' in the 1840s-90s with specimens being hunted far and wide and depicted in all media. Includes a study of a downy wood fern from a watercolour by Sydney Parkinson, published 1768-1771, made during Captain James Cook's first voyage across the Pacific, and a Samoan fern from a book of horticultural illustrations published in Brussels in 1882; plus a Hard Shield fern from ‘Die Entdeckung des Naturselbstdruckes’, 1854 and a Rockcap fern from a botanical illustration after Sydenham Edwards, c.1805.
