Fun and festive Christmas cards reproducing two Edwardian-era Christmas postcards from a private collection. Depicting perching robins within a snowy landscape with a windmill, one design is from 1912 created for New York publisher John Winsch. Highly collectable today, original Winsch cards were noted for their fine embossed details and colourful chromolithography. The card-front reads 'A Happy Christmas To You'. The second complementary design of robins reproduces a panel-format postcard produced by London-based publisher C. W. Faulkner and Co. Ltd, c.1905-10. The cards' reproduction reflects the 'soft' print quality of the original source material, which is over 100 years old and adds character to the design. Charming in style, send festive robins to continue the tradition of Christmas wishes which reached its greatest popularity in the 1890s-1910s with Christmas postcards. Made exclusively for Museum Selection.
