The British Library Cards with a jolly mix of art and illustration to brighten any birthday, drawn from the superlative collection of the British Library. From a manuscript’s calendar page c.1520-30 and a 16th century celestial map, to a fashion plate from the ‘Gazette du Bon Ton’, 1913 and illustration for ‘Motor and Plane’, 1932. By way of great names in 19th and 20th century illustration such as Randolph Caldecott, Warwick Goble and Jessie Willcox Smith. The cards include reproductions of antique printed imagery, reflecting the original source material’s age and the printing techniques of the era.
