I'm sorry that you're not finding your mattress comfy. A topper is a great way to get additional support however, a platform divan base is the best way to get the most firmness from your mattress.

I'm pleased you feel this mattress is great value for money.
I'm sorry that you found it tough to know which side was the top and which was the bottom. A great way to tell this is that the tufts always go to the top. These are the indentations in the mattress from where the materials have been pulled together.
