Macu-Save contains Meso-Zeaxanthin, Lutein and Zeaxanthin, derived using extracts of the marigold flower (Tagetes Erecta). These three ingredients are also the same three macular carotenoids found in high concentrations at the back of the eye. They are found within the yellow coloured filter or macular pigment, which is believed to protect the macula against damaging visible blue light or oxidative stress. Some research has shown that this precise combination of carotenoids may be of particular benefit... boosting the diet, enhancing the macular pigment and improving its vital protective function. Significantly however, these macular carotenoids are entirely derived from our diets and as such cannot be produced by the body. The macular pigment can therefore become severely depleted in those with a poor diet, lacking in the right foods that are rich in lutein and zeaxanthin.
