I was under the impression that I had full no claims protection as I've had for many years only to be informed that I only have step back protection so I'm not impressed.

Bonus protection is an optional extra. There is an additional charge to add this cover. The step-back bonus protection means if you have a claim your no claims discount will be stepped back 3 years. We will also not affect your no claims discount if you have a fire or theft claim.
