Hi Frances, I can see that you raised a warranty for the hiking boots, and once the warranty claim was made you did indeed received a resolution within 7 hours. Because these model of shoes do have a high waterproof resistance, however not being Goretex or leather wouldn't probably tolerate extremely wet conditions that you mentioned, so your warranty claim was refused. Because you disagreed with the decision, we then asked you to contact the brand.
