I am sorry to hear that your experience was not as good as expected. I hope that I can help explain why things have changed significantly for us since Covid-19. and that this has affected our normal service, especially delivery prices. Normally our store staff could have delivered this for considerably less, or a collection could have been made at any store for no cost.Your order was placed shortly after the lockdown was announced and we were under pressure to re-organise our business very quickly. We were not allowed to open our showrooms by the Government. All of our business quickly moved to online, and we distributed all of our goods from our central warehouse as we could not send deliveries from any local stores, due to there being no staff or drivers at these stores. When many of our staff were placed on furlough, we had to quickly adapt by changing most of our deliveries to be carried out by couriers and dispatch all orders from our main warehouse. So although there may have been a store close to you, the goods would not have been sent from here. This increased our delivery costs considerably.Its also important to understand that because we deal in heavy and bulky items where only a few orders can fit on one delivery van, this makes it considerably more expensive to deliver each order as specialised services are required. Argos (who you had mentioned) sells many smaller items that can fit a lot more onto a delivery van. Our orders are usually delivered on pallets, or multiple large boxes. Unfortunately, when getting any bulky or heavy deliveries from any company, the delivery cost is usually high, unless they have increased the costs of the item to cover it. Smaller orders can seem expensive (especially when compared to the total price), but we do still subsidise it as much as we can. For example your order (5 large 18kg boxes) was 90kg , and when i check on a parcel delivery comparison site (parcel monkley) there is no-one who could deliver this for under £45. Despite the challenging times, we have still managed to carry this out for considerably less.We are working in unprecedented times, and trying our very best to offer good service, but as things change daily for us we cannot always maintain our normal level of service that you had experienced, although we are trying extremely hard.
