Hi Edith Your preference was to be paid as a sole trader and whilst this is a service we offer, agencies will sometimes opt not to allow contractors to get paid this way, due to the transfer of debt risk as a result of the Employment Intermediaries legislation. Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. We understand that claiming expenses can sometimes be time-consuming as a contractor, particularly where mileage is concerned. I understand from our telephone conversation that your biggest frustration is submitting the details of each journey to our online portal. As a compliant umbrella company, we must adhere to HMRC guidelines when paying out mileage expenses. Current guidelines state that an employer must be informed of the postcodes/distance of each individual journey, in order for the employee to receive tax relief.
