Hi, Thanks for your feedback regarding your trip to Marsa Alam. I am so happy that you had a great time with the boat crew and the dive guides on board the boat. Of course I’m disappointed that you did not enjoy the same experience in the office. It’s true that week was exceptionally busy for what is traditionally a low season week, and in Ghalib it is still a challenge to find extra instructors at short notice, unlike larger cities such as Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh. Lisa may well have seemed stressed as well as she was also in the run up to her PADI Instructor Course and Exam, studying hard, while covering my annual leave. I’m pleased to tell you she has passed with flying colours and is now an Instructor! Lisa is a popular member of the team here, and usually gets very good comments, so I do sympathise if she was showing some signs of pressure.
Lisa does tell me she encouraged you to get one of your sets of friends who were certified divers to prebook as it was a better price due to an offer we were running, while the other friends were wanting to do a Discover Scuba Diving (DSD). DSDs are very staff intensive, requiring instructors (not divemasters/guides) to complete at a maximum of 4 divers per instructor, so it is one of the most difficult activities to arrange at short notice. At the time you were with us we only had 3 instructors on the team, others were on holidays or back home with their families on annual leave which is common in low season. I apologise then if they did not get to dive as often as they wanted, and strongly encourage them to contact us before traveling next time to pre-book their DSDs or perhaps SCUBA courses such as Open Water so we can have the instructors lined up. Your other set of friends completed 6 days of diving, and from what I can see you were all on the same boat each day – please advise me if that was the not the case. I also see that your friends who completed the DSD also ended up on the boat with you for their experience and also got to join you for a day of snorkeling on the boat so I’m glad we could arrange that after all.
We look forward to diving with you again and hope that next time you arrive your office experience will be a better one, that will match that of being on the boats :) Also, by pre-booking the activities, I know we will be able to ensure there is no disappointment in missing out next time. I normally do 2-3 Red Sea trips a year! This was my first Liveaboard with Emperor Divers, on ASMAA 1-8 Feb. Booked with OONAS DIVERS after DIVE 2017@ NEC in October. What a value!
