Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry that you felt The Strings Club was not the right environment for your child. We do, however, feel it is important to provide some context, while respecting your child’s privacy. The wellbeing, safety and inclusion of every child in our care is incredibly important to us. Our team showed considerable patience and care throughout the day, but as the day progressed it became apparent that your child required a specific level of individual support in order to feel settled, participate positively and be supported safely within the camp environment. The telephone calls you refer to were made because our team had growing concerns and wanted to communicate these with you as they arose, rather than wait until the end of the day. We would also like to clarify that our records show that we called you twice in total. Both were conversations focused on how we could support your child further. They were not intended to “characterise” your child, but formed part of our responsibility as a childcare provider to communicate openly with a parent when we believe a child may require additional support. We also want to clarify an important point for other families reading this review. Children do not need a diagnosis to attend The Strings Club. Where a child has additional or individual needs, having information from families about those needs and any strategies or support already in place enables our team to plan appropriately. Where there is no diagnosis, existing support plan or information available to us about a child’s individual needs, our team will use their professional observations and work with families to create an internal support plan where appropriate. On this occasion, however, as the day progressed we felt that an internal plan alone would not provide the level of individual support your child deserved. We did not believe it would be fair to continue welcoming your child without being confident that we could provide the appropriate support for them to feel safe, happy and able to thrive within our setting. This was not about a diagnosis or label. It was about the individual level of support we observed your child needed. We also take confidentiality extremely seriously. For that reason, we will not discuss publicly any conversations or information relating to an individual child. We are, of course, happy to address any specific concerns regarding this directly and privately. Ultimately, we believe it would be irresponsible for us to continue accepting a child into our care if, based on our professional observations, we did not believe we could provide them with the level of support they deserved.
