This customer ordered a sample in Passione velvet. This is a relatively lightweight and supple velvet. What I would say is that the weight or apparent chunky texture of a product does not necessarily indicate that it is of better quality or is more durable than one which feels more 'flimsy'. Often the contrary is true. Passione is one of our hardest wearing fabrics according to British Standard testing - it achieves 80000 rubs on the Martindale test which classifies it as ultra hard wearing. Put another way it is double the required level for use in a pub, hotel or restaurant. Passione uses very fine yarns and has a dense short pile construction. Fabrics which feel heavier often use thicker or higher bulk yarns which are generally cheaper as the weave is not as dense or fine.
