Thanks for your review and feedback here. In general mono running line gives greater distance, but is more difficult to handle and requires more care when loading onto the reel, whereas coated running line is the opposite. Some people prefer one over the other, depending on what they are fishing for and their personal preferences. I suspect the RIO MDC kit is supplied with the mono running line to keep costs down, but it would be good to see an option where it's supplied with the coated running line, so if that's what you prefer then you don't end up having to pay for both. I do hope that now you have your MDC kit with coated running line that it's working well for you! Regards, the Sportfish team.
