Please find below the owner's response as regards the history of the problems:- The hen party group in question did have some difficulties with the power that weekend, but what happened is that they all went on a canoeing trip one morning and got soaking wet. When they got back, around lunch time, they all simultaneously went into four showers as they were cold and wet and probably stayed in the showers for some time to warm up. Unfortunately they had just turned up the electric radiators, put their clothes in the tumble dryer and turned on the oven. The net effect was that they blew one of the main fuses to the property which could only be replaced by Western Power though we did get an electrician out at the weekend on an emergency basis to check the system. Fortunately, when we put the electric showers in 13 years ago, we had upgraded the electric power supply when Western Power calculated that we needed a double supply and a supersized transformer on the supply pole outside our house. This meant that only one of the main fuses blew on this weekend so they still had some power left, but they still did £450 of damage to our electric circuitry and switchgear which required three visits from our electrician to resolve. I am not sure whether you gave them a discount, but we do not feel that the house was in any way to blame for what happened! They inadvertently blew the electrics by turning on everything at the same time. Western power have a mathematical algorithm that they use to work out what size of main fuses and supply to have on properties, and assume that if you have showers, radiators, ovens and tumble dryers all drawing current, you will never have them all on at once for a prolonged period. The house has the supply recommended by the Western Power engineer who managed our upgrade and has been used by many groups over the last 13 years and the mains fuses have never blown before. This was just a freak overload occurrence that would happen in any property where every electrical appliance was turned on at once. Although we sympathise with the girls who were there that weekend, and applaud them for their good attitude at the time, I do to think that the existing comments give a very balanced account of what actually happened, and may make people worry about future "power cuts" if they make a booking.
