I spent four years in Dijon during my misspent youth in the early 1970s. I enjoyed many wine-hunting trips with friends and colleagues down the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, and eventually co-wrote a Batsford guide to Burgundy. Some of my colleagues were Comtois, but sadly I never had the opportunity to explore the Jura vineyards. I can't exactly remember when I became acquainted with the wines; I know I discovered the cheeses first, during a visit to Mont d'Or! A propos, I must correct one small error in my review: the hard cheese is "comté" - it's the people who are "Comtois". Feel free to use my review as you please - i waive all copyright!
