Having travelled abroad without insurance, you bought cover whilst on holiday and our policies for those already abroad always start on the day after the purchase to prevent potential fraudulent claims by those who are taking out cover for an event that has just occurred.
This is made clear when purchasing this option if you answer Yes to the question " Have you already travelled?" Its also advises that there is no cover for pre-existing medical conditions and no 14 day cooling-off period.
As to the time to respond, our offices open at 9 am and we always start by dealing with the overnight voicemails, offline chats and emails first before dealing with those that came in that morning and I am sorry that you felt our service levels were poor for not calling you back sooner.
I personally feel that our website was accurate and that the response time for a call back was acceptable considering your call was received out of normal office hours and if the matter was urgent, you could have called again, emailed or used live chat.
