I’m sorry to hear you felt disappointed with your experience at Easterheughs. I’m surprised to hear the property felt cold but thank you for the feedback as it helps us keep an eye on quality control. Upon investigation I understand the central heating is brand new (replaced last year) and with radiators installed throughout the house with adjustable thermostats the heating is left on 24 hours a day. It may have been possible the settings were adjusted down by the previous tenants which hadn’t been picked up on changeover, as I believe you were given access to the property a few hours earlier than the standard 4pm check-in arrangement. Instructions are available in the visitors book to adjust the thermostat should guests feel the temperature setting is too hot or cold.
We don’t advertise there is a telephone at the property, however, we have taken your comments on board and will consider including a section about house phones in our ‘overseas visitors’ guide as the fact one wasn’t available is not unusual in this industry.
Having spoken with the housekeeper she did confirm she attended the castle a few times during the week. Once to check everything was ok (standard courtesy procedure for this property), on Wednesday the oil tanker was due for the monthly top-up which she needed to take delivery of and once more apparently at your request. The owner has been made aware of this complaint and as a third party intermediary, we can only sincerely apologise on everyone’s behalf if you felt these visits were overly intrusive.
