I understand that you were unhappy with the Tax Enquiry Insurance being added to your account for 2 months completely free of charge. We included the cover to your account as I am sure you can appreciate, IR35 is a big concern for contractors. Not only that the bulk of IR35 enquiries start with a PAYE compliance visit or an enquiry from a tax return and could possibly end up at a Commissioners' Hearing. For this reason, Qdos Tax Enquiry Insurance should be a key consideration for all freelancers, giving you the reassurance that you will not have to fund a costly defence in the event of a PAYE compliance visit or HMRC enquiry. I can assure you that it is not our intention to mislead customers in any sort of way and there are different opportunities to remove the protection before any payment is taken. When we added this cover to your account, we informed you via email that the free cover has incepted. Upon renewal, it is highlighted in our emails that you have received the cover and the renewal quote includes this and there is no obligation to continue. You would have also received a 14 day cooling off period whereby a full refund is issued if you do not want to continue with cover to give customers further time to assess their protection. I understand that you are unhappy with the contact you received from Qdos to remind you of your upcoming expiry, please accept our apologies if you felt this was excessive and unnecessary, as we had not heard from you we were not aware that you felt this way. We appreciate how busy contractors are and how important insurance coverage is, so if we do not hear from customers we will keep trying to get in touch to inform you of the upcoming renewal so customers are not left uninsured. Many customers have expressed their gratitude for the reminders but I can appreciate for a customer who is aware of their renewal date it would be quite frustrating to keep receiving the reminders. Our goal is to ensure you are aware of your renewal date, not to pressure you, so for your renewal next year I can limit the renewal contact you receive. You will still receive the automated correspondence via email but I have limited our calls to only calling on the day of expiry if a renewal has not been actioned going forward.If there is anything else I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact me.Kind regardsStephanie
