Our Traps catch the following types of Moth: •Webbing Clothes Moth, otherwise know as the Common Clothes Moth (Tineola bisselliella) •Case Bearing Moth, otherwise know as the Case Making Moth (Tinea pellionella) •White Shouldered House Moth (Endrosis sarcitrella) •Brown House Moth (Hofmannophila pseudospretella) If you are seeing moths flying around your home but not seeing any moths on the Traps it could be for the following reasons. 1) The moth you are targeting is not one of the moths mentioned above. You may like to view our guide on Identifying Clothes and Carpet Moths. 2) Our Traps attract the active adult male moths and will help break the breeding cycle. It might be that the moths you are seeing are females and the males have not yet hatched. The Traps are active for 12 weeks after opening. 3) If you have any other moth deterrents placed nearby they can distract from the Traps. Identifying Clothes and Carpet Moths The traps attract the active adult male moths and can be kept in place for 12 weeks after opening. 2) It might be due to the stage of the moth life cycle where some larvae are still pupating. If the conditions are warm indoors (which is often the case in winter when the heating is on) this can affect the cycle. 3) If you have any other moth deterrents placed nearby they can distract from the Traps. The female moth will lay her eggs on a potential food source for when the larvae hatch. Animal based fibers such as wool are a perfect meal for the larvae. Our Traps attract the adult male moths and therefore help break the breeding cycle. We advise that you keep the Traps in place in order to monitor for any further moth presence. The pheromone sticky strip is active for 12 weeks after activation.
