This customer requested samples in Puccini and Vicenza fabrics. How heavy or chunky a fabric feels is not necessarily an indicator as to the quality or durability of that fabric. Every fabric we sell has been put through a whole battery of stringent testing in accordance with British Standard requirements and all are more than suitable for any upholstery use. Some fabrics are made using extremely fine yarns which creates a fabric which may appear lightweight or even flimsy, whilst others use high bulk yarns which produce a thicker, heavier end product. A good example is the Salerno faux suede which is extremely thin but is in fact super hard wearing and is extensively used in contract applications. What dictates the wear properties of a fabric is the yarns used and in most cases the finer the yarn, the tighter the weave and therefore the more durable they become.
