We send out thousands of sample cuttings each week. Completely free of charge and with free postage. We believe we are one of very few fabric companies to offer this service. Samples typically come in two sizes. Plain or semi plain fabrics are 11cm square approx, whilst larger scale designs are cut 15cm x 11cm approx. The main purpose of samples is to show customers the colour, texture and handle of our fabrics. In many cases, especially where plain fabrics are concerned, samples are enough to enable customers to make buying decisions. On large repeat fabrics, it would simply not be possible to send customers free samples showing the full repeat (in some cases this would entail sending up to half a metre of fabric) without having a huge impact on our general costings. Put another way we would have to substantially increase our selling prices in order to cover this. As it is, we try to ensure that samples on large repeat fabrics at least show all the constituent colours in that fabric so that the customer has a pretty good idea about how the fabric works. Also, every large repeat fabric has an image on site showing the full repeat. This is why we offer a jumbo sample service to our customers. These cost £9.00 including VAT and postage, and measure 130cm x 25cm approx. More than enough to show customers how large repeats work.
