Thank you for your patience while we inspected the Mitt Hotspot. The Hotspot is designed, and tested to reach therapeutic temperatures of around 42 degrees Celsius when held in contact with your horse. This is only a 5 degree increase from body temperature, and what has been proven to have the desired effect of heat therapy. The best way to check the heating element of your Hotspot is working correctly is to hold it in one place on your horse (or your leg through thin clothing) for at least 3 minutes before putting your hand underneath to check the temperature. Every time you lift the Hotspot away from the body heat will escape into the atmosphere and the surface of the Hotspot will cool quickly. It is important to remember that on particularly cold days it may take a little longer to heat up if it has been stored in a cold tack room/car overnight. Finally, heat drains a lot of energy from the battery, when testing the Hotspot for temperature ensure the battery is fully charged.
