We were sorry you rated our service poor. On the day you were arriving, the gardener was strimming the grass and a stone flicked up and shattered the outer pane of glass in one of the double glazed windows. We contacted the glaziers and they attended right away but said the double glazed unit would have to be ordered and would take a week or so. They removed the outer pane of glass, sealed the edge with tape for safety and confirmed that it was safe to leave just the inner piece of glass. The cleaner thoroughly cleaned up the broken glass. The view through the window was largely unaffected apart from the tape around the outside of the frame. We also visited the property ourselves before you arrived and there was no glass on the step that we could see. There might have been an odd bit in amongst the gravel path which we didn't see but as it was shattered safety glass it would have presented no risk to anyone. We think to suggest that the room was cold during August is stretching the point. The house has central heating over which you had full control. We did not leave a note or hassle you during your journey as we genuinely believed that the window as it was would not affect your holiday. If however, you were unduly concerned about it, you only had to phone on either the office number or the out of hours mobile you were given and we would have explained. This would have taken five minutes of your time and perhaps 20p. You had a bad experience with another company a few years ago. However, there was no reason to assume we would also give bad service if you contacted us. In fact, we had worked really hard to make sure the property was ready for your arrival even though an unforeseen accident had occurred. You raised a couple of cleaning issues in your review. The cleaner does a very good job in our opinion and other reviewers have rated the cleaning well. Four dishwasher tablets are supplied to start you off. In a self-catering property you don't normally expect enough consumables for a whole week. Half an hour after leaving your review (once you had realised it was public online), you sent a conciliatory email in which you stated, 'I would like to let you know that we found the website and your help with the booking helpful and smooth'.
