Blackthorn is a native, deciduous species, so your plant will lose its leaves during winter, but will now have burst back into leaf and will have flowered and will eventually produce berries. Your plants are evergreen and they will produce star-shaped white flowers in spring⭐🌼. If you cut the stems back by about 20/30cm after they have finished flowering, they will flower again in late summer/autumn. Yew is a slow growing evergreen conifer that produces red berries during the autumn that will attract hungry birds. Privet is a semi-evergreen, which means the plants may lose some or all their leaves during a very chilly winter. In spring lots of new leaves will push through and in the summer they will produce masses of white flowers that will attract lots of butterflies and bees. This evergreen laurel makes an ideal hedging plant as it has a very dense growth habit. Pruned, this hedging plant makes a beautiful formal hedge and left to its own devices a great bushy barrier, whether required for a formal or informal setting this is a hedging plant that offers year round interest and colour.
