There is a slight knack to getting your fingers inside the elasticated arms and then it flies off fast enough to make its screaming noise. Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you have had a problem. I agree the instructions on how to assemble this could be better and I have told Jaques the manufacturer. We have had one at home for many years, and if you do get the springs evenly placed around the frame the net does get very tight and it does work pretty well. Please do let me know if you would like some advice assembling it or I can get Jaques to send you another one. Mark
