Please let me assure you that Aussie House Sitters has a clear policy which is detailed in our Terms & Conditions that:
- no-one else should be residing in the home during the house sit; and
- that the house sitter is not to be asked to provide care for another person during a house sit.
We would be very concerned to hear that children or elderly people were remaining in the home and that a house sitter would be asked to provide care for them during the house sit.
We review our home owner ads when they are posted and before they are published on our site and any that include these types of responsibilities are removed and the owners notified that this is against our Terms & Conditions.
We do allow home owners to advertise house sits that include some work for AirBnB or similar duties as we find that some of our house sitters enjoy taking on these types of responsibilities but only if remuneration is provided to the house sitter as we agree these responsibilities are outside of those that would be expected in a normal house sit. This is also listed in our Terms & Conditions.
We are aware that some home owners do stipulate that their preference is for the house sitter to stay in their caravan during the house sit. We have decided to allow these ads to remain on our site as we do have some house sitters who are very happy to live in their van providing they have some access to power and water, to avoid having to pay for site fees while travelling. We do encourage home owners to allow the house sitter the opportunity to stay in the home but have made the decision to continue to advertise these types of ads but we appreciate that many house sitters will choose not to apply for these types of house sits.
As we discussed, we would encourage you to contact us if you have any concerns about an ad that is published on our site so we can follow this up. It is important to us to ensure that both our home owners and house sitters are able to benefit from the house sit so we appreciate you contacting us with your feedback.
