Western Red Cedar, which is also known as Thuja Plicata 'Atrovirens', is a popular alternative to Leylandii hedging, as it is slower growing but still provides a dense, evergreen, conifer hedge. It has vibrant mid to dark green foliage which is glossier than other conifers and is produced in attractive sprays. The leaves are also aromatic when crushed, giving off a sweetly fragrant scent.
