When you're finished grilling or cooking with binchotan charcoal, you can place the hot charcoal pieces into the extinguishing pot. The pot is typically made of a non-flammable material like ceramic or metal, and has a lid with a small opening to allow for air flow. As binchotan burns for much longer than regular charcoal, you can remove the lit briquettes from your konro, place into this pot and put on the lid which will put out the charcoal, ready for use again next time, saving resources and money.
