Deosect Spray is a straw-colored or pale yellow emulsifiable concentrate designed for the control of flies and lice on horses. It contains 5% w/v cypermethrin (cis 50: trans 50), a residual insecticide. To use Deosect Spray, it needs to be diluted with water just before application. You can use a knapsack or hand sprayer, or even a sponge, to apply the solution. For best results, the diluted solution should be used within 24 hours. This product is safe to use during pregnancy and lactation, providing effective fly control for horses. When using Deosect Spray, dilute one liter (2 pints) of the concentrate with 50 liters (11 gallons) of water. Alternatively, you can follow the dilution rates mentioned in the table below: Deosect Water 10 ml 500 ml 20 ml 1 litre 100 ml 5 litres 200 ml 10 litres Ensure thorough coverage of the animal, paying attention to the face, legs, back, and hindquarters. It is recommended to use a medium fine spray to prevent fogging. Avoid spraying directly into the animal's eyes. The amount of diluted solution to be used is: Horses 500 ml per animal Ponies 125 ml per animal For fly control, start applying the solution at the beginning of the fly season and repeat monthly for general control or every two weeks for severe head and face fly control. For lice control, apply when lice are observed and repeat as necessary with a minimum of 14 days between applications. When handling the concentrate and diluted solution, it is important to wear protective gloves, face shield, rubber boots, and protective clothing. A face shield should be worn when handling the concentrate. Deosect is a licensed medicine for fly control in horses and has been proven safe and effective.
