The rings on the booms are not finished properly, where they have been brazed or welded there are still quite sharp areas which could cut the mainline or braid.

The boom has been designed to act as a ‘rotten bottom’. The boom will actually break at just under 30lb. With a recommendation of a braided mainline of at least 50lb, the boom will always break before the mainline, allowing the FishSpy to remain attached to the mainline when the boom breaks.
