Apologies for the issue! If there is an issue with your ISP modem then that will certainly effect your FlashRouter's ability to connect to the internet. Be sure to reach out to your ISP to resolve that issue before proceeding with any setup of the FlashRouter as it requires the modem to be working to function properly.
Love this router - it is everything they claimed - so fast!!!! Eats up everything I throw at it. 4k everything and still no lag at all. TV, Apple box, 5 external nest IQ cameras, multiple wifi devices
Excellent range and throughput. Multi-level concrete home, and getting excellent signal throughout, numerous connected tv's, tablets, and computers and excellent bandwidth on all devices.
All I can say is that I love this router, there's still more to understand about it and how it works to its full potential but the basics I've got.

Hello Derek! Apologies for this. Some ISPs require certain VLAN tagging that is not compatible with DD-WRT firmware which must have been the case in this instance. That being said connecting to an older router is not necessarily a bad thing! Using a Dual Router Setup can be beneficial if you want to have a dedicated ISP network through the old router and a dedicated VPN network through the FlashRouter.
