You have very determined rats there then ! These do normally prevent the rats from going up the drainpipe, not a lot you can do if they are climbing the walls :(

You're right there, Sheryl - definitely determined! I've left the baffles up though, hoping that they'll soon get fed up with going around them to get back to the drainpipe and continue their journey upwards. I've also planted mint below, hung onions on the drainpipe and am going to wedge some lavender behind it as well - not to mention the menthol sachets and ultrasonic deterrents in the loft itself! Nobody can say I haven't tried (they ignored the humane trap for five months, hence trying everything else!) Wish me luck :)
