Thank you for your comments.  Looking at this order I see that it was processed 7/12 and we despatched 20/12 which was in line with the despatch date advised on the order acknowledgment.  The POD for the parcel shows that it was signed for at 9.01 on 21/12 which is 10 working days from placing the order. 
Although we endeavour to keep to the 5 working days service level on core products, when we have an unforeseen increase in demand and the lead times have to be extended, we always communicate this on the order acknowledgment to keep customers informed at the time of placing the order.

Yes the order was delivered on the 21st December which was great. (I had been informed that the factory was closing on the 16th December when I chased the order and that delivery wouldn't be made until w/c 9th December so this was a nice surprise).
