I would suggest obtaining a Hygromter to measure the moisture in the atomosphere. Mould will not grow below 62% humidity (optimal range for mould is 70-90%). The de-humidifiers work on simple science and are designed to stop working at below 60% (as drying the air too much can be as damaging). If the humidity has not been over 60% for long periods of time then there has been no need for the Pingis to be working and therefore will not be absorbing any moisture.
