Hi, We are sorry to hear of any issues you are experiencing with your machine. In regards to water pick up, you only need to hold down the trigger when pushing the machine forward and let go when you pull it back. We also recommend going over the area without holding the trigger just to get up as much water as possible. If you are still experiencing issues with the machine we would recommend taking the machine back to the store for inspection and further assistance. Regards, The Godfreys Team
