sad to see this product contains corn starch and FOS both of which irritate candida, the reason I am taking probiotics in the first place.

Please rest assured this product is ideal for your needs with no contra indications or interactions whatsoever. Cytobiotic has research evidence to demonstrate its effectiveness against candida when used in conjunction with a diet to facilitate eradication. It has strains that have direct candida-cidal action of which the most powerful is lactobacillus casei.
There is nothing in the product that will aggravate candida at all. The FOS is in fact Inulin and this is metabolised by the friendly bacteria immediately on rehydration during the time the product is left to stand before drinking. It is added to give the dormant strains a food source for energy when they are rehydrated. At the time of ingestion there will not be any prebiotics left to have prebiotic effect in the human body as it will have been used up by the strains within seconds of rehydration. Moreover, prebiotics are non glycaemic and even if present would not aggravate candida as candida cannot use them as a food source in the way they use other sugars.
Corn starch similarly will not be digested by candida and the level is so small as not to have any carbohydrate effect. This is used as a substrate to help retain even distribution of the strains in the powder to ensure that each dose gives an even mix of strains in the same quantity in each dose.
