Easy to use base metal clay Allows for smooth extrusion with no air bubbles Perfect for intricate designs Can be kiln or torch fired Create stunning real copper designs Prometheus Copper Clay is an easy-to-use base metal clay containing fine copper particles, along with an organic, water-based binder. This 10g syringe of Prometheus Copper Clay is perfect for creating intricate filigree jewellery designs in copper. For best results, use without a tip or by using the largest tip provided. Prometheus Copper Clay can either be torch fired or fired in a kiln, with minimal shrinkage of only 6-10%. Kiln firing is recommended to achieve best results: fire at 920°C for 30 minutes. No carbon or charcoal is required to kiln fire Creative Copper Clay, but items should be wrapped or covered in a kiln pillow during firing. Smaller Prometheus Copper Clay designs (approximately the size and thickness of a 50p coin) can be fired with a torch. Heat the clay and wait for the binder to burn away, then heat until the piece glows a bright red colour and continue to heat for approximately 5-10 minutes. After the clay has been fired, Picklean pickling solution can be used to safely remove oxidisation, before brushing off with a brass brush. When working with Prometheus Copper Clay, Badger Balm or olive oil can be used as a release agent to prevent clay from sticking to hands, tools or work surfaces. It is recommended that designs created with a Prometheus Copper Clay syringe are 1.10mm thick as thinner designs are likely to break easily once fired. The syringe is supplied with 3 tips.
