Peridot is the gem quality variety of the mineral olivine, easily identifiable by its olive green colours, caused by the presence of iron in the olivine. The birthstone for august, peridot has generally been known as the stone of compassion and is excellent for alleviating jealousy and greed whilst motivating growth and confidence. These round peridot faceted stones consist of a pack of 12 and are of mixed sizes varying from 3mm+. Peridot has a hardness of 6.5 - 7 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 3.34. Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each stone is unique so colours will vary and slight natural inclusions and zoning may be present. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place peridot stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Peridot can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth.
