Hi Mark, We made the decision to switch to recyclable plastic bags after a lot of research and soul searching. We love our biodegradable bags, but they're not as hard wearing as we'd like, so we lose a lot of food through bags tearing or getting wet. Also it turns out that they really only break down properly in industrial composters, and they aren't recyclable. Our new bags are a brand new technology with multiple layers of the same plastic, which means they are fully recyclable wherever you recycle your carrier bags (kerbside, recycling centres or your local supermarket) By protecting the food better, keeping it fresher for longer, the plastic bags do end up more environmentally friendly in the long run.
