Due to its soft, plush construction, the fibres can shed or separate from the core during seaming. To make this process more secure, you can gently strip back the fuzzy fibres at the ends to reveal the core thread and tie the core threads firmly together. Using a large plastic tapestry needle and sewing through the structure rather than just the surface can also help. For extra durability, a matching acrylic yarn or sewing thread may be used to reinforce the seams, as the chenille fibres can sometimes pull away from the core.
