Thank you very much for your comments. I am very sorry to hear that our policy on damages deposits has caused offence. I'm afraid it's not always possible to meet every guest, and as such the damages deposit is administrated by us as part of the service we provide to our homeowners. Almost always these deposits are refunded without incident, however in cases where there has been genuine damage caused it's useful for our owners to know that they can draw upon this money to replace/repair any missing items or damage. We will never stop a deposit without first letting a guest know exactly what the nature of the claim is and where possible, ascertaining if they know anything about said damage. If necessary we can ask for photographic evidence to be supplied to document the problem. I hope that helps to reassure you, but can I suggest that if, on arrival you've any concerns with the condition of the property, or it's contents that you please do let us or the caretaker know and we will be happy to help.

Thank you very much - at the moment we'll only take on a property within a reasonable distance of our offices here on Dartmoor. That way, we can regularly inspect and we can be sure that our properties are of the highest standard. It's possible that maybe in the future we'll be able to go a little further afield, but there are no plans at the moment I'm afraid. We will always be very happy to help whenever you come to our part of the world though!
