Here at BLVD, we are passionate about electric scooters, micromobility and the benefits it can provide; but this passion didn’t come about overnight.
BLVD founders Stewart Downs and Mick Harris, were already connected as mates as well as in business.
Their work would see them traveling the world in search of the greatest toys and sporting goods. It was on one of these many trips that Stew spied his first BIRD scooter. He couldn’t believe the amount of people using it for both work and leisure and how easy it made getting around town.
The flame had been lit. From this moment Stew and Mick spent their time visiting cities across the US, Europe, Asia and New Zealand, and observing how electric scooters were being adopted as a new form of transport.
The boys witnessed that people were more than prepared to hire scooters for their five minutes of fun; but they soon realised that the true enthusiasts wanted more. They wanted to own their wheels.
The challenge was to create a scooter that was safe, affordable, reliable, light and great value for money – as well as one that you would recommend to your friends.
The BLVD dream began and the launch of the BLVD Cruze in November 2020, is a realisation of this dream.
We are super passionate and immensely proud of the BLVD brand and the great electric scooters we are producing. We are also really excited about where micromobility is going –especially the opportunities and benefits that it can offer Australians.
