Dog Rose is a hardy, native plant. As it is deciduous it will have lost its leaves over autumn/winter, and in spring you will see lots of healthy green leaves push through and in summer they will produce pink and white flowers that will attract lots of butterflies 🦋 and bees 🐝 and after flowering you will see rosehip fruits appear that will feed lots of hungry birds 🐦. I am pleased you are happy with your Lonicera Nitida and I hope they are in the ground and are settling into their new home. Lonicera Nitida is an evergreen with tiny green leaves 🌿. Your new plants will knit together to form a beautiful dense hedge. They sometimes produce little white flowers in spring, and these will attract pollinating insects, and the dark berries that push through in autumn will feed hungry birds. Hawthorn is a native, deciduous species, so your plants will lose their leaves during autumn and winter. In autumn the leaves will turn brown when the plants become dormant for the winter. The plants hold onto these leaves and in spring lots of healthy green and purple leaves will push through again.
