I am sorry that you feel misled.
What we were attempting to explain in our email was that the TOG ratings you have been reading for foam-based underlays are not accurate. Foam-based underlays are lower density and contain a lot of air. When in use, these low-density air-filled underlays lose their insulating properties very quickly as the air is squeezed out. Of course, the TOG rating does not allow for this when testing, so while it might score high in an insulation test the real performance will be considerably lower when the underlay is laid and walked on.
The Acousta rubber underlay that we recommended to you is high-density. It does not lose insulating properties and performs considerably better when in use(despite an initial lower rating). In fact, it is our top-rated underlay with outstanding Feefo reviews. On our product listing, we have a video where were talk a little bit about this.
I do apologise if this was not explained well, but we have indeed supplied the best performing underlay in this case. You are of course always welcome to exchange the goods if you are not satisfied.
