Mini print of Silence = Death, 1989 by Keith Haring. Haring made this piece a year after his own AIDS diagnosis in 1988, during a period of social activism to bring AIDS awareness into the public consciousness. The pink triangle is reclaimed from the Nazi’s inverted triangle symbol forced on gay men, which Haring covers in figures signing out the adage ‘see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’. These, and the title, allude to President Reagan’s purposeful ignorance of the AIDS crisis, and is a call to action for the queer community and their allies. Keith Haring (1958 – 1990) was an American artist, and one of the leading figures of the graffiti art movement which emerged from New York in the 1980s. His work reflected a profound commitment to social justice and activism, raising issues that remain relevant today, including the AIDS crisis, racism, and environmental degradation. All our mini prints measure 35.6 x 28 cm and include a white border with full artwork credit line. Our mini prints are produced on 250 gsm matt art paper using a four colour flat-bed digital printer. We work with only UK based PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified suppliers for our print products.
