Mexican Tortilla Press

Tortilla presses are the best way to make consistent, thin and professional-looking tortillas at home. The tortilla press follows a traditional design – with the press covered with a very rustic silvery coating. Do not try to remove before use, as it is to help prevent the cast iron tortilla press from rusting. Give the press a quick wipe before using, but always use the tortilla press with a piece of greaseproof paper either side of the dough. To use, place a ball of masa harina dough in between two squares of greaseproof paper, place in the tortilla press and pull the lever to press the dough ball into a thin circle. A brilliant – and fun – way of making tortillas at home. Please note this press looks rustic. It is made of cast iron, with a rustic pitted surface, and the silvery finish is uneven in places.
